Welcome Back to the Spring semester at Harper College!

Be sure to stop in at the Library to get an early start on your research!  Access the Library website for a variety of research tools.  If you are looking for books, search the Harper Library catalog.  If we don’t have the particular book you are looking for, try the I-Share catalog.  To order materials through I-Share you must create your own account.  To find journal, magazine or newspaper articles use one of the databases such as Academic Search Complete.

   Don’t forget your ID!  You’ll need it to check materials out and to print.

New in the Library this semester are an additional 12 computers for your research use.   All the computers are first come, first serve and all have access to the Internet and Microsoft Office applications. Laptops are also available for student checkout within the Library. 

 

Need help getting started with your research?  Can’t find a book or an article on your particular topic?  Ask the Reference Librarians!

Come one, come all to the Library After Dark Open House on Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 5:30pm-8:00pm at Harper College Library. It’ll be the capstone event to our National Library Week festivities.

At Library After Dark you can:

• Buy books for $0.25 (that’s not a typo– books will be 25 CENTS!) at the Library Book Sale
• Create your own READ poster
• Share a favorite memory about libraries/books in the video booth that we’ll set up
• Enter the Recycled Book Contest
• Vote for your favorite Recycled Book Contest entry
• Vote for your pick for the Library’s Art Mural Contest
• Leave your mark in the library with a book review that we’ll hang on the Tree of Knowledge
• Enter the READ poster scavenger hunt contest
• Participate in the hidden recycled origami crane contest
• Enjoy refreshments and prizes (in other words, free food and giveaways!)
